I've been going around to my companions and using the additem and equipitem console commands to get them to wear an outfit that i like. All i would like to do is be able to remove their default outfit from their inventory during the game without having to resort to console commands. And, finally, compatability for the unofficial skyrim patch, version 1.2, which changes farkas' default outfit.

This mod allows you to pick a new default outfit for each follower through dialogue options, which gives you more control over what they choose to wear. If you are on the pc, there are several. Oh, and you actually can see your companion's default gear. Allow you to make your own custom outfits with any equippable item on the player inventory.
Under item tab, select outfits, right click new, it will open a blank.
First i looked for a mod, but. Build the custom outfit(s) in bodyslide using the leijona body preset, now this new outfit will match her body in game. You also can not remove your companion's basic apparel. This is a resurrection of the mod that existed in skyrim le (by davidjcobb) and outdated versions of skyrim se (by aers).
But you can't remove all the armor, or their. What i have done is use the console to completely remove armor and gear from the follower. My mod for old skyrim, bbls, allows you to do it (create legitimate custom npc outfits and assign them to npcs via dialogue), but making it required both skse. This mod tweaks a number of things regarding npc outfits.
Unfortunately in vanilla skyrim, there's no way to manage a follower's equipment to make them wear/remove gear.
Edited september 22, 2021 by creekdipper I never played much with this in skyrim, but as an example in fallout 4 in order to get nick valentine to wear custom clothing you had to console removeitem *id* to delete his. The problem is that they always seem. Allow you to support almost any outfit of any mod.
You can try this mod: So when you get a companion who is a mage, such as j'zargo or aranea, and you want to equip them. You have to hire them, then send them home, and then if you have the pickpocketing perks you can pickpocket it off.
