Nick refuses to wear anything but his hat and trenchcoat, not even glasses work. Like people indicated, you can equip items on various npcs, so i was a little disappointed that nick could not wear even some basic humanoid armor (and agreed with the poster. I'm going to attempt to see if various suits work as well.

Just give him a different outfit and make him wear by pressing triangle on his side of the inventory and he'll have to unequip what he's currently wearing.

It is one of the only clothing items that can be given to nick for him to wear. Those clothes will accept ballistic weave. Vanilla you can’t change what he is wearing but i want home to match the rest of the. When you first rescue nick and then meet him in his office ellie gives you some detective clothing (i forget exactly what they are called). Allows you to upgrade his coat and hat, and upgrade anything else you give him so he doesn't fall behind your. As far as i know, the only thing you can normally give him to wear is the faded trench coat you get from helping him in the first place, which looks exactly the same as what he's already wearing (but can potentially be modified with ballistic weave to make.
I was able to equip the colonial duster, kellogg's outfit, and the minuteman general outfit on him so far. Now nick valentine can wear every clothes and armor you(human) can. Afaik besides pa, and some higher resolution retextures of his usual clothes, there isn't anything nick can wear. Looks like power armor or nothing

T only works for weapons at him. I just want to know what the best option there is for being able to change nick’s outfit. Is this a glitch, or is this because he is a synth and requires some sort of special armor? Meeting nick valentine in vault 114 before visiting diamond city will automatically start unlikely valentine.
The faded trenchcoat you receive as the quest reward is. At the end of the quest, the sole survivor can respond to valentine. These seem a bit dated historically, but i guess they'll do.
